Parent Governor Election 2020
The deadline for nominations for our Parent Governor Election was 12pm today, 2nd November 2020. As we have more nominations than vacancies, we need to run an election. Please read the below personal statements and then click the Google Form link at the bottom of this page.
As part of the electronic voting system, to ensure that only eligible voters vote (One parent/guardian per family is eligible to vote, as long as they have at least one child at our school at the time of the election) we are asking that parents add their child’s name to their vote. This will be held securely and only accessible to the Returning Officer, Mr A Robson. Any questions or queries, please contact the school office.
The deadline for voting is 12pm on Monday 9th November 2020.
Candidate 1: Mr Neil Clubbs
I have been a Parent Governor at St. Matthew’s School since January 2020 and I would like to continue in the role and contribute to the school’s development.
I have two children who attend St Matthew’s School and would like to use my expertise from my working life to benefit the wider school community.
I am a Business Director for an International Property Consultancy, who I have been with for 20 years. By way of background I am a Chartered Building Surveyor but also have Project Management and Consultancy experience. My current role involves overseeing projects in the Education, Health and Government sectors, I have responsibility for multi-million pound budgets and I manage a team of 100 staff.
Please see below a few areas where my experience can benefit the school:
1. Building condition and planned preventative maintenance
2. Property health checks including health and Safety
3. Building development and refurbishment advice
Candidate 2: Mr Andrew Cass
I am Andrew Cass, father of Elena in Year 1. My wife is Helen, a Chinese national and permanent resident in the UK. We also have a son, Noah, almost 3 years old. I love St. Matthew’s School and have not had a single moment’s doubt that we made the best decision for our child’s education. I want to use my time and knowledge to help our school.
My job is Global Key Account Manager for AkzoNobel, a coatings company which you will probably recognise from the Dulux brand – although I work in the Marine Coatings Unit for the International Paint Brand, based in Felling, Gateshead.
During my 23 years working at International Paint, I have spent time working the UK, South Korea, China and Brazil. I have a degree in Chemistry from Newcastle University but now work in the Sales function. My budget for 2019 was €24 million, therefore am well versed in business acumen and budgeting requirements. I have spent many years managing teams of people from around the world and, to this day, spend most of my time managing relationships with people from around the world.
I am also on the Steering committee for our company’s wellbeing program as an advocate of mental health for our 3,500 UK&I Employees.
My hobbies are sport (of almost any kind), cooking, trying to play golf, home brewing and – most of all – spending time with my family.
Please click the below link when you have read both of the above personal statements and would like to submit your vote, the deadline for votes is 12pm 9th November 2020.
