St. Matthew’s Catholic Primary School is a Catholic Academy which serves the people of Prudhoe and its surrounding communities.  Our school has worked alongside the children and parish of Our Lady and St Cuthbert’s Catholic Church since 1875.

Our aim is simple: to provide a first class education in a  nurturing and stimulating learning environment designed to ensure that all children achieve their very best throughout their time with us.

On 1st April 2020, St. Matthew’s became part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust.  This transition was part of a diocese wide academy policy. We are very excited to be working within the new trust and having had lots of experience as part of a smaller trust, we feel well placed to add lots of value to Bishop Wilkinson CET moving forwards.

Our staff are fully committed to the aims of our school in providing the very best educational opportunities for all pupils. We are passionate about creating a fun, engaging and productive environment which will contribute towards securing our children’s academic, social and emotional development.
