Assessment
The assessment of pupils’ progress and attainment is an ongoing process. Our teachers and support staff are highly skilled in identifying successes and areas for development in children’s work and as a result, they are able to adapt and change their planning to meet the needs of their class and of individual children.
Assessment happens in every lesson, every day. Teachers make formative judgements based on a range of evidence, including children’s responses to questioning, low-stakes quizzes, and the work in their books. On a termly basis, teachers use test materials or set deeper thinking tasks to ascertain a clear picture of individual progress and attainment.
Children complete statutory testing at the following points in their primary career:
- Reception baseline
- Year 1 phonics screening
- Year 2 end of key stage assessments
- Year 4 multiplication tables check
- Year 6 end of key stage assessments
