Welcome to The Friends of St. Matthew’s
Did you know that just by having a child in our school you’re automatically apart of our fantastic team of Friends! We would love to hear your ideas for fundraisers, help with baking or helping to run events, we appreciate every second you can spare to help us fundraise for our school!
The ‘Friends’ includes everyone – parents/carers, staff, school council reps, family and friends all working together to raise funds for resources for the children at our school. There is a long history of successful fundraising at the school and we hope to continue this as your children go through St. Matthew’s.
What do we do?
The Friends organise many fundraising activities throughout the year, from our annual Christmas and Summer Fairs to our termly discos and film nights. In addition, we have small fundraising events for specific targets and we liaise with outside organisations to raise further funds for school resources. We are also always looking for new ideas for fundraising activities and have a few new things planned for the coming year. If you have any ideas please do let us know – you won’t have to organise it on your own if you suggest it! Our noticeboard outside the school and our newsletters will keep you up to date with meeting dates and Friends events as well as fundraising successes.
How do we support our children?
The children have enjoyed many benefits from funds raised through the Friends. In recent years the school has been able to purchase a projector for the hall, a P.A. system, sports equipment, science and technology equipment and we were also able to help the school to buy staging for those important Christmas productions and assemblies! So far this year we have helped purchase a set of IPads for classroom use, outdoor resources for KS1 and most recently class sets of instruments for music lessons.
What can you do to help?
As always we rely on the generosity of our members to support events in a variety of ways. Whether it be attending fairs, organising events, helping out on stalls, braving the disco as a helper, baking biscuits for film nights, doing the shopping, wrapping presents or taking your children to events there is always something you can do. We appreciate time is precious for most people and so only ask you support us in any way you can.
We will have a meeting at the start of the new term in September and hope that many of you will be able to attend so you can find out more about what we do and how you can be involved.
