Our children joined other schools from around the Gateshead and local area at the annual Gateshead School Sports Partnerships Dance Festival at the Sage Gateshead. The group of 20 children in upper KS2 have been working extremely hard throughout the past few months, practising in their Dance Club in preparation for the Festival.
Their hard work paid off as their performance was absolutely stunning to the audience on the night. We are so very proud of the dance group and have enjoyed watching them progress from learning the steps to mastering the whole routine.
Have a look at the photographs below from the Festival; we can’t wait for the DVDs to be released!
Some of our year 1 and 2 pupils attended the KS1 athletics festival at St.Thomas More on Wednesday 7th February. All of the children really enjoyed taking part alongside our cluster primary schools and loved the dinosaur theme of the events, we certainly have some budding athletes to watch out for in the future. Thank you to all of our parents and grandparents who came along to support the children and a big well done to those who took part, we are very proud of you! (A special mention goes to one of our fantastic sports leader, Matthew who was on hand to offer advice on techniques and supported all of our younger children fantastically).
After careful consideration after reading through the Year 6’s applications, we have successfully appointed 9 of our Year 6 pupils to be Sport Leaders for this academic year. They will be involved throughout the year in all things sport, from writing match reports, videoing competitions and festivals, leading warm ups in PE and helping to run afterschool clubs. Keep watching the Sport’s Blog to see what they’re getting up to!
