10/11/2017 – Remembrance Liturgy

During November we are remembering and praying for all those who have died,
especially members of our own families and friends.
On and around 11th November, Armistice Day,
we pray for those who have lost their lives through war and
we pray for peace in our troubled world.

God our Father,

We remember those who have died as a result of war or conflict, soldiers and civilians.
We give thanks for their lives and acknowledge their sacrifice.
We ask that the peace of Christ will end all violence and that all may live together in harmony.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
We will remember them

During the centenary of his birth this year, we are remembering Blessed Oscar Romero. In his last sermon he tried to end the fighting in his country when he asked the soldiers to stop killing of the people of El Salvador. We pray that his words and actions continue to inspire us to be peacemakers through our actions, thoughts and prayers. Lord in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
