Nursery

A warm welcome to St. Matthew’s Nursery and Daycare

We are delighted that you have come to visit our webpage where we hope to give you an insight into the fantastic range of learning opportunities that takes place each day.

At St. Matthew’s we aim to:

  • provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age;
  • work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop;
  • add to the life and well-being of the local community; and
  • offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.

As an OFSTED registered setting, you can rest assured that your child is in nurturing and caring environment that will help your child develop the skills that they need to flourish in their school life. We work closesly with the Reception class to form a cohesive early years unit which the children can occasionally free flow and learn from the various areas that the combined unit has to offer.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via telephone: 01661 835484 ext 1.

Forest School

Outdoor play is an extensive part of our learning and Children are encouraged to extend their creative play by adding open ended resources such as pieces of guttering and crates. The children have access to our log cabin  full of interesting resources during the session to develop their ideas through play. In addition to our traditional outdoor space we also have a Forest School area where we are able to offer a Forest School experience.

The children in Nursery and Reception spend one session per week in Forest School with the Forest Leader (Mrs Hatherley). This is a very different outdoor experience in a quieter, shadier part of the Nursery/school grounds. Here children dig, plant, play with water and hunt for bugs, exploring the whole area throughout the seasons and in all weathers.
